Comments: Woke to the sidewalks & streets white. thin layer of ice last night with a thin layer of snow. 20 degrees and dropping plus now it's snowing. Weatherman says we may get 4 to 8 inches in and around DFW.
I trucked out this morning to feed my birds & pick up paper at curb. Tiger is entranced by all the birds flying around in our yard and trees. Haven't seen a single car or dog walker this morning.
Happy Valentine's Day and, yes, today is 36 years for Don & me. Hard to believe we've been married that long. At least 36 yrs ago it wasn't snowing, it was a pretty Feb day. Didn't even need a coat.

Comments: It is supposed to be 3 degrees here Monday night. At least it let up long enough for us to go get our shot. It is a mess around here! Two of our main highways to Fredericksburg were closed for awhile today.
Thanks to my great friends that sent Valentines. They were much appreciated. That was a really great idea Sandy. Being this far away from everyone it helps opening the mail and hearing from friends.

Comments: Paul - if it makes you feel any better, they're forecasting us to have about 8 to 12 degrees here Sun and Mon nights! We may have 6-8 inches of snow, that's a drop in the bucket to what y'all will get! But, oddly enough, about 30 min ago the clouds cleared and we have sunshine! I can't believe it . . . we weren't expected to have sun until at least Wed. TEXAS . . . you gotta love it!

Comments: Sandy, you know I love you but I cannot be sympathetic. 9 degrees this morning, colder temps coming along with the threat of 8-16” of snow. But still, out of this freezer, I send my warmest Valentine’s Day wishes to the lovely ladies of South Oak Cliff. 😍🥰❤️❤️❤️ Guys, you have to fend for yourselves.

Comments: It was 26 when I got up at 6:30am today. Will slowly drop and still expecting lots of snow tomorrow and more Monday. At least Monday is a Holiday for many, Gov., mail, banks, etc., so maybe will be much less traffic on the roads. Vaccination hubs are closed too.
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, to all my SOC Friends . . . Wish we could all meet in person but, until that can happen, may it be a day at home where you are safe & warm. My love to all of you!!

Comments: Good one Pauley!! It is so nice to hear from you both, Toni and Sandy! Between NY and DFW, it looks like you might have the coldest temperatures of the winter down there. And 7 to 8 inches of snow is quite a bit!! Just remember what my father (who was born in Brooklyn) used to say about driving in the snow. Don't stop your car at the bottom of the hill when you are driving or you may never make it to the top of the next one. But honestly, how can one do that if there is a red light at the bottom? And without snow plows or at least very few, driving in Texas is really dangerous when it snows. Obviously you know all of that. Richardson is mostly flat, thank goodness, but where we grew up in Oak Cliff was really hilly. It was so much fun when it snowed-- and we had one of the few wooden sleds in the neighborhood so we took real advantage of it!! I am sorry to hear about your back, Sandy. Is there anything to be done to make it better? And be careful in the snow and afterwards when it melts and then turns to ice! Not sure how we would be able to walk in winter without our snow boots! Time for hot chocolate, if you ask me!! Of course, it is always time for chocolate!

Comments: So glad to see Sally’s posts. We often wonder how you are doing. Bruce and I are scheduled for our second vaccines on Feb. 22nd. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. Hoping everyone gets stocked up on food and drink, firewood, etc. so they don’t have to get out in the oncoming winter snow! Sending warmest wishes to all.

Comments: Sally , it is so good to see you post! Please stop by more often. Yes, we're to have snow Sun & Mon up 7 -8 inches accumulation. And you know that's a lot for the DFW area! But the real deal breaker is the temps! As of last night, nothing above freezing and overnight lows in the low teens. Sunday night is predicted to be 8.
We're working on covers for my 2 beautiful pots of pansies as I speak. Fortunately, I only planted 2 big pots in the backyard this year. I've had so much trouble with my back I can't do much flower planting anymore.
Lastly, it's wonderful to see on FB and here on GB how many of our SOC group have been vaccinated. Good to hear Sally that you were lucky enough to get one too. It's been a scramble around here signing up on multiple sights and waiting for your # to come up. Don and I got the 1st shot and we're scheduled for our 2nd on 2-23. Everyone please remember . . . just because we're vaccinated doesn't me3n we're 100% immune. Still need to wear masks and take precautions. Stay safe stay warm and don't forget about your pets!!

Comments: My sister said it is could go down to as low as 1 degree tonight in the DFW area! That is terrible! We haven't gone below the high teens in NYC. I do remember this happening one year after Christmas when I was there some 35+ years ago! Ada, I too have all groceries delivered and I am getting the second vaccine tomorrow. I am lucky to have a (zoom) tai chi teacher who is a nurse at the hospital nearby. She told the class that the hospital was beginning to give the vaccine so I was one of the first to be given one there. Ever since the first day that 65+ have been eligible to get the vaccine, it has been a real scramble! Pauley, if my typing is bad, it is because we had too much fun in typing. I have never been good at it!! Be careful in the snow! Do you all even have snow boots?
