Toni, I thought of you and Karen RL as I drove through Garland on Saturday. We went to Farmersville's "Chautauqua arts festival".
They blocked off Main st. set up booths and artists sold their art. The antique stores were open and I bought Two old Transistor radios.
There was food vendors on the street so I didn't go hungry.
Robert, If we are comparing our stomachs to "food" then mine is the size of a watermelon.

Happy Birthday Greetings to our favorite rancher gal - Donna Ratley Priley!

Tell Jack to bake you a cake, and to let you have a day off from cleaning the stalls.

Well last July the 7th we had our 20th wedding anv. We got married in Uvalde , Texas. Now after saying all that I am getting to this.  Down there I found the best BBQ ever.  It was in a small tin shed and the pit out back. I mean it ust melt in your mouth. Jolae ,  the wife, fell in love with it. She being from Long Island meant she had not much of a chance to enjoy Tex Mex food. My brother and his wife met us in San Anitono <sp?>. and Jolae discovered steak faitias <sp?>. You know what I mean, forgive the spelling.  Now about sending BBG up here go right ahead.  My weight loss is due to surgery and my stomach is the size of two very small eggs.
ok. I am going to go watch Glenn Beck now. I watch Fox News all the time now. But went fishing yesterday. The wife has to go with me cause I have been falling down a lot lately and I am going to have to do something soon about it. Love you all.
p.s.  come on , someone here is bound to be a twitter. lol

Don L -- that's the place; we ate there Memorial Weekend 2008; a great concept serving the meat right off the smoker.  Cooper's being built in Ft. Worth looks a little more upscale than the one in Llano, but I hope that the food is just as good.

Today saw "The One And Only" at Angelika in Dallas.  Was a good movie; mostly senior citizens there; oh, that's getting to be me, but alot of those folks looked OLD.

Hey Robert - Glad you checked in before the first blizzard of the season has y'all covered up.

We could probably have some BBQ sent up there to you, but I wouldn't want to interfere with all that progress you've made slimming down, that I haven't.

Maybe if I sent it to you, I wouldn't be tempted, but you would - ?  Could become habit-forming, again!

Linda - If they build Cooper's BBQ according to the original, out west of us in Llano, it'll have a smoky, dirt & gravel parking lot along an old bldg, with people lined up against the wall outside waiting to get in.

That special serving method means you select & they serve your meat right off the huge smoker, just before you walk in the entrance.  Then, you pick up your longnecks & everything else inside, cafeteria style.

We sat at a traditional room size picnic table with some other folks, where there were evenly spaced rolls of paper towels in the middle.

I got an email from Dale who says they are enjoying taking part in the Burning Man event. They slept late today so's they could stay up tonight and watch the big finale as The Man is set afire.

Yuvonne has her Mac with her and set up a live-feed for us to follow the action on this dusty ending day:

Were it not for the oh-so-stingey KarenRL, I'd be there now, cooling my heels in her RV.

For anyone in our area wanting a really pleasant experience eating outdoors in the cooler weather, Rudy and I went to Ft. Worth yesterday and ate "lupper" (that's lunch/supper), 4 pm, at Joe T. Garcia's.  In the shade of a wonderful tree, the weather was perfect and the Mexican food great.  It was so pretty to just sit there and enjoy the view.  They've put a large water fountain in the swimming pool since the last time we've been there.

Also, there is a Cooper's Bar-B-Q of Llano being built right across the street from Billy Bob's.  If any of you know about Cooper's, they catered Governor George Bush's inaugruation (sp) party after he was elected Governor (I don't know which time), and the meat there is ordered in a unique way and the sides/dessert is wonderful.  The building is just a shell, now, but I was excited to see the restaurant coming to our area.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. For those of us still "laboring," it is surely a welcome day off.

Happy birthday Mario.
