This whole Texas story in the news is really remarkable.  Tough to read, and no doubt tough to live through.  Wishing all of you well.  I'm getting the feeling we're going to look back and reminisce about the good ol' days of 2020.  Go figure.

My brother & his wife left today about 1:00pm.  They lost power late Sun & planned to tough it out.  But after the low 4 to 6 degrees around here Monday night into Tuesday morning, he called and accepted our invitation to come on over!  It was great having them here for 2 days and nights.  We enjoyed it so much.  He called his neighbor every day asking if power was back on.

When he found out it came on this morning he was anxious to get home and hoping they didn't have busted pipes.  He called me after they got home & so far so good. House warming up and nothing leaking yet. I know many won't be that lucky.  Hope everyone has power today!!  In Houston, Don's mom, his brother & rest of family all got power last night & it's still on.  Unfortunately in Houston they put the pipes in the attic.  Lots of broken pipes including at his mom's house.  If you are a plumber, you are going to be busy all over TX!!!

Many šŸ™for you in Texas. We have family in Lancaster freezing So we understand.  We have teetered on the edge of power loss here but have only had like an hour without. My ā¤ļø is with my SOC family. Time for our leaders to upgrade our infrastructure. Should have been done long before now.

Gas Log Fireplaces are a life saver in a deep freeze and no power situation.  I will always have a house with a gas log fireplace and a gas stove.

In Dec 2013 we were without power for 3 long days & nites.  No rolling blackouts, a blown out transformer which caused total outage to about 700-800 homes here to be without power, and that's due to the terrible ice storm that hit the area.  Trees down in alleys and over fences and roofs. Thick ice everywhere.  We were literally frozen in!  If it hadn't been for the fireplace & stove top we'd have had to leave.  So, my heart goes out to all of those without power.  It's always a bad situation.  Hope all have power soon!

P.S. My brother & his wife are on way over now because they have no power and tired of freezing last 2 night.  Hope they make it here OK.

Very cleaver Paul, I can tell you've been cooped up too long.  Now it looks like we're going to get a 2nd round of snow but accompanied by some sleet and ice.  I keep thinking this is all a bad dream.  Unfortunately, it's all too real.

Cabinet doors open under all sinks.  faucets slowly running.  Heat upstairs turned up a few notches.  All we can do.  Praying for sunshine and higher temps.

Mario, you always were and still are a sweetheart!  Barbara is a lucky girl.  I hope y'all have electricity as I know several up there that don't.  Thank you again for the card, it reminded me of our Lisbon days.

Hi Sandy, yes I did get your email, and it was so kind of you to send it to me...and congrats to you and Don on your wedding anniversary.
Barbara and I met on Valentine’s Day in an elevator back in 1979, so it’s a special day for us too!
Carol, I’m so glad you got the Valentine’s card I sent you, and that you liked it so much, don’t think we went to the same grade school, right, but if we had, I would have given you that one for sure. Hope your not running low in KS on electricity like us N Texans are right now.

The last time the US experienced a weather pattern like this was in the early 1900s.
