Thank you for all the kind words about the death of my aunt. She was very special to me all of my life. But, I can be thankful that the stroke enabled her to miss the ravages of the later stages of Alezheimers.
On Saturday, we had a small family viewing at Byrum Funeral Home in Lanaster. We then had a small graveside service. At 2:30 Saturday afternoon, we had a memorial service in the chapel at Grace Presbyterian Village. We had it there so her friends living there could attend. And, many DID attend. It was very uplifting to hear people say what they will remember about her.
I am feeling better now. Just EXHAUSTED. I will miss her; but, I am thankful she won't have to suffer from Alezheimers or with her horrible headaches any longer.
Thanks again for the kind words you have expressed to me. They really do help. And, they are appreciated.

John,
Headlines can be misleading. I just found out "Huge Pipeline" is not a lady with loose morals in Dumas, Texas.

Sometimes things aren't as they seem. I was pleased to read a headline today that proclaimed "American wins New York City Marathon - first time since 1982!". I felt a smidgeon of pride.

Reading on, I learned that some 44,000 runners entered today's event. The winning "American" is Meb Keflezighi.

Turns out Meb comes to us by way of Eritrea. I had to look it up on a map. No, Eritrea is not some small town in Iowa - it is a little country in Africa located along the Red Sea. Hmmmm?

A fracas developed after the race when the 2nd place finisher attempted to have Meb disqualified due to misspelling his own last name on the entry form. The judges are still reviewing the alledged "technicality" and will announce a binding decision this evening.

SNL, thanks for the link.  TommaCine...I would have never recognized her.  She went to Holmes.  She was quite a character, lots of fun.  So was her sister, Randi.
I was over at Kessler Park a little while ago.  You would not have believed the cars and the trick or treaters.  The neighborhood were told to expect 2000.  It was a mess!
Linda P., that's what the ladies talk about.  The guys still talk sports (golf), sex and sports (golf) and sex.

Not as many Trick or Treaters this year as in the past.  But a lot of little cute bunnies, butterflies & Spidermen!

I just found out, and confirmed, that one of our classmates has past away.  TommaCine Strangi Gallaher!  Or as we all knew her . . .  Tommie.  Thanks to Donna Riley who tipped me off last night & I found the obit today. She died on June 22, 2009.   I put a link if you would like to read it.

....a shortage of toilet tissue is nothing compared to the signs you see in front of our Oak Cliff elementary schools now which advise that it is against the law to bring a gun to school!  We ladies who went on the Oak Cliff tour a while back saw those signs at all the Oak Cliff elementary schools....that will give just anyone a little pause....maybe that's why there is a toilet tissue shortage to begin with....leave those guns at home!

Jack, as I recall, the precious children who attended John Neely Bryan and T.L. Marsalis never had to be escorted to the bathroom.  Must have been a behavoral issue at Lisbon!  Did Mr. Eagan attend Lisbon??  If so, I rest my case!

Gee Sammy, I seem to remember teachers accompanying somebody to the bathroom when we were there. In my minds eye I can see them walking down the hallway, but I can't see the faces. I don't think it was because we had a shortage of paper. Do you remember that? Anyone?

Sammy,
Well isn't that Charmin. It's just another example of misguided youth. I really think we should Pamper them. Every story has two sides and this may be one of those 2-ply situations also. In a few weeks this whole deal will probably just be flushed down the drain. They may want to call in Bobby Eagan to clear out those drains.

Any of you lisbonites see the news last night about the toilet paper problems at Lisbon Elementary School? It seems last year they really did run out and the D.I.S.D. Warehouse was also out of stock due to budget constraints.

The excuse this year is the kids are stuffing rolls of it down the commodes and stopping up the toilets, so they now have teachers accompany the kids to the bathroom and give them only a few of what the teacher deems "necessary".

Good grief, I had had some visuals. D.I.S.D needs to "wipe" the slate clean and re think what really is a priority. I mean who wants to see kids scratching their itchy butts from not completing the job in the first place.

Well, D.I.S.D. is definitely on a roll!

I think I can still chip and putt and I can really drive a "mean" golf cart...I've got that down!
