Must be the Benadryl daze----meant to say Steve's Dad is in heaven with him for sure---was a great guy just like Steve, and so sorry for Steve's family's loss.

JD, God bless you for all your sacrifices in Viet Nam. We can never thank you veterans enough---all of you.
So sad to hear about your loss of your Daddy Steve. He sounds like he was a wonderful man.
On a lighter note, Susan you crack me up! Loved it!
And big Bday wishes to Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Bobby!

Good shooting Yuvonne.  That will give you some good meat for a while!  My grandson is going to be jealous when I show him this picture.

Poor Bobby caught up with me on his BD yesterday.  He enjoys those four mths that I am "older" then him so to speak. Now he said he feels like he is falling apart! He is a year behind us in school - just a baby!!!!!

I got a couple of "iPhone" messages from Dale today. He and Yuvonne have gone all "pioneer" on us and are living off the land in Coleman.

They have two herds of wild hogs that roam the range so they got the idea to use grandson Zander as hog bait. As luck would have it, Weds. evening an 8 point deer came in to investigate and Yuvonne lowered the boom on it. Weighed in at 144 lbs. (the deer, not Yuvonne).

Earlier, Dale took down what is either an 85 lb. hog or the neighbor's German Shepard (see pics below).

Haven't been on the GB for awhile and decided to catch up.

Happy Belated Birthday to Yuvonne and Don.

Annette the Lionette, you don't like "The View"??  Perhaps you and I should do a show called "The Coop." We could just sit there clucking and crowing at one another. It would make more sense than the mindless chatter on "The View." We could invite famous guest chickens, like Foghorn, and those "other cluckers" in cartoons. Perhaps we could peck to death an "Eat more Chikn" cow from Chick fillet. (I can't remember how they spell it.)

Do you think we could get a sponsor? One rule: we cannot have as sponsors any brands of chicken at the store, or any chicken restaurants. They are chicken murderers. We could have grain and feed stores for a sponsor. And, we could advertise eggs. NO, scratch that. Those are chicken children!!!!!!!! That also rules out IHOP as a sponsor.

Well, it is very late and I am being VERY silly. Got to go to bed.

Just got caught up on GB & all the wonderful posts.  JD - don't you dare agologize for sharing your heartache or your fears with your friends!  That's what we do here!  This site was set up so SOC friends could share their joy, sorrow, happy times & bad times with each other and that's exactly what we do every day.

Getting old is tough, but being able to share our concerns & problems with others in the same situation is a great help & stress reliever.  May this site continue to be a supportive & fun place to visit!!!!  Life is short . . .  share it with others!

JD, as Jerry said, you have no need to apologize. For those who experienced it, your words rang true. For those fortunate not to your word may bring a better understanding.  For years I have listened to, mostly, talking heads and politicos talk about "lessons" we should have learned from Vietnam. In my humble opinion, there are only two. You can't run a war from Washington, don't try. The President is CIC and has decisions to make, but congress being involved just causes problems and accomplishes nothing. And if you involve the military, tell them what you want accomplished, give them the resources to get it done and then get the H*ll out of the way.
