Don - no the bumps weren't serious (more embarrassing), but I let out a few screams.  We did see lots of turtles in the water and some racoons on the shore, but NO alligators.  I was watching out for them though.  What a pretty place for you to live;lots of people outdoors running, biking, walking themselves and dogs; my daughter just moved to the Austin area in July and they live in Lakeway.  I know we'll be down there more to see grandkids so we'll become more familiar with the area than Congress St. and eating at Guerro's.  And finding our way to Salt Lick.

Way to go, Linda P - going to the Salt Lick to 'lick your wounds' after a day of crashing around Lake Travis!

We live about 1/2 mile from Cody Park & 3 miles from Point Venture, both along the lake.  Didn't see any red flares from our deck, so glad the bumps weren't serious.

Happy birthday to Karen PH, Sam, Sam, Rusty, Mario, and happy anniversary to Donna RP; Donna, glad that you are getting around better.

We went to Austin over Labor Day to see oldest grandkids (and parents).  For the 3rd time in my life I went canoeing; this time in Lake Travis.  Our 13 yr.old grandson was in our canoe, so I sat in the middle.  Only ran into the shore twice and a cement pilon once (holds up bridges).  After that, we got the hang of maneuvering the canoe and did ok.  Fun and a beautiful day in Austin.  Ate at our favorite bbq -- Salt Lick in Driftwood.

JS, usually when one revisits places where he grew up, old buildings seam smaller , darker, less interesting but going back to SOC high school was different. The school is larger than it use to be. the halls seam large, the lunch room and gyms haven't changed. The lockers were painted, new floor tile on the main floor, New display cases all the way down the hall adjacent to the auditorium, and they were full of trophies, I think they will need more display cases because they were stuffed with old trophies from the beginning of time. The seats in the auditorium
were the ones we sat in, I think I saw "JS" carved in one.
As for the picture you refer to, "NO COMMENT"

My deepest apologies to all birthday men and ladies and all the anniversaries I did not respond to. No excuses.

As far as political input, let's just say the Progressive Party will not be in total control in the coming year after the November elections. And as a side note, Mr. Hussein and his Marxists / socialist party will also be in trouble if the Conservatives wish to go after his total disregard for the Constitution as well as breaking the law with his bribes and other things that he has no Constitutional power to do. Boy that really hurts me to say...but the truth is the truth.

Sam Smith...I have no idea what a flying anything is...but if you think you can do those things and get away with them...more power to you.

Don & Barb F...thanks for letting me participate in your fund raiser even though I will not be able to attend.

SNL...it appears, again, you have total control. No wonder everyone looks up to you.

Jack and KMD, golf is a game of swingers...and I don't ever remember you two being in that group. Now Bovie & McGoo...well that is another thing. BTW, I'm not there either...just as a clarification.

JS, you were right...it was a typo, 6 inches was the true number and now it is 6.75 and getting smaller. I might even have to wear a big sign "This is really J.D." at the 45th so some people will recognize me.

Mr. Sanders, am glad we had time to talk...hope you are getting better...will call again soon.

Retirement looks better and better each and every day...116 working days left until I can walk out of here a free man...almost feels like coming home from Vietnam...great but a little concerned I will be able to survive.

If I missed anything, I deeply apologize...hope all remain in good health and spirits...Good Bless.

Rick,

It was so great to see you at the school Saturday.  I am so glad you could join us and hope your class will enjoy taking a tour of the hall when you have your 45th Reunion next year.  It really is a great treat to see it still looks really good inside and out.

Celebrity SOCite Rick Watts was spotted with an unidentified woman (NOT his wife) roaming the halls of the old high school last Saturday morning. He even posed for our cameras with his eyes OPEN.

Rick, give us your first impressions (of the school, not the gal); and did you go hard or go home?

[Sidebar: I met this same gal at a funeral in Crockett, TX last summer but her name eludes me]

Barb and I had a great visit with Rock-in Rod Savage and his lovely wife Linda. Met in Salem at the Olive Garden and finally had to leave because the waitress kept eying us, probably wanted her table back.

Rod and Linda it was great seeing you guys. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and catching up on 45 years. Hope you had a safe trip back to Eugene.
