Comments: Thanks, Bobby, for trying to send the info on Eddie T. to us. I am still in shock at his passing. I can still see his smile. Like so many of us, I was hoping he would be able to attend one of our get-togethers. Guess I didn't really know just how sick the poor guy was. Had I known, I might have tried to find him and go visit. And, now we have lost Sue Powell. I had a secret crush on her when we were in Speech together. Didn't really know her very well, though.
Comments: Sorry to say that I most likely will not be able to attend the next get-together. Saturdays aren't that easy to get off from Brooks Brothers. I will try, though.
Comments: Anita Pulis had polio as a child and is paralyzed from the waist down. She is a lovely person and has lead a very full life. Yes, send up special prayers for her.
Comments: I t/w James Pulis earlier tda regarding our 10-23 mini. He's uncertain if can attend, as they just became Grandparents again & his sister, Anita Cl of 64, collapsed & was put in hospital on ventilator 3 wks ago! She's doing a little better & was able to breathe w/o ventilator & w/help of oxygen for several hrs Sat. He sd they are very close & this is very difficult for him. James & his sister could use our prayers! Sorry to have to post all this bad news, but for the friends of James . . . I knew you'd want to know!
Comments: I'm sad to say . . . we've lost another classamtes! Sue Ann Powell Oliver passed away 9-16-10. Jim Young was looking thru some of the fueral home obits and just happen to see the info & he told me about it. It was a very short & simply obit saying only that she was 62 & survived by her mother, Mary Powell, and bro, Bill Powell. This is the 60th classmate to leave us all too soon. Will add her name to the list shortly. I appreciate receiving any info anyone has or sees regarding the death of a classmate. I can't take "hearsay" as a confimation, as I need solid info. But if it weren't for Bobby B & Jim Y we would't know about Eddie & Sue Ann! Thank you to all the eyes out there helping to keep us informed!!
Comments: Great time at the BMF project tourney!!! Glad Karen got on here and set the record straight. We were never lost. A couple of times we had to seek shelter in the woods from the 67ers behind us, using us as targets and distance finders. Guess those whippersnappers think there is a prize for finishing quickest. And I did spend a FEW minutes in the tall grass looking for lost golf balls (mine). Karen wouldn't let me go diving for the ones I knocked in the water. Great day! Weird course, some of the cart path was a goat trail. Good food from BJ's and Zuroma's. Grumpy marshals. McGee's got a new cap. That and his plaid shorts makes him look like a Scottish thumbtack. The 67ers took second place with a 1 stroke lead over the 66ers. I don't know which one was the score keeper or who added up the total, but I don't think any of them were math majors. Bovie seemed to be having trouble with his pants!
Comments: Got caught up on the GB & glad to see the BMF Golf Tourney turned out great & apparently was lots of fun!! The Golf was the bright spot of the wkend, as we were heart sick watching the Rangers lose both games!! We were in Austin over the wkend but able to catch most of the two games on TV in between running down a kid or two or three!! Then driving home we had to listen to the Cowboys get beat due to their poor play & major penalties! The triplets, who turn 6 on 10-19, loved their new bikes & I spent a lot of time outside watching them ride!! It may have been a lousy sports wkend . . . but the look in a child's face (actually 3 faces) when they saw the bikes & the hugs Mimi & Papa Don got made it a great wkend!!! Glad the weather cooperated & the Tourney sounds like it was a rollicking success!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()
Comments: Actually, we found Jack and Karen a lot - it was just figuring out how to get to them!!!!!
Comments: Karen MD, so glad you surfaced! I was getting concerned. I even asked Kathy (on Facebook) if you and Jack had been found yet! I am so sorry that we had to miss such a great event, and we're really looking forward to next year.
Comments: Karen, thanks so much for setting the record straight! As for the beer/beverage cart, well, some things just don't change. I think they call it a cheap date when you only drink a couple, but as for my driver......Speedy, find a computer fast, I need some help!
Comments: Sounds like Eddie had a poignant service. God bless him. Well at least there was one bright spot from the weekend (certainly not any of the ballgames). The BMF Project Golf Tourney was a great time for everyone. Thanks to Michael Fugate, Donnie and Barb Fugate and all their extended family members who work so hard to make it a success. For some reason, however, many of the participants seem to have lost either their memories or their minds. It wasn't Jack and I who were lost or missing, but the other half of our team (Kathy and Speedy) who were misdirected by a course marshal to the wrong starting hole. As a result, our team played the entire course, 7 holes apart (had to combine our scores at the end). And as Shortcake said, it was Kathy and Speedy who seemed to disappear like the plane on "The Event" when they tried to find them on the course for picture taking. I do think there was an unusal interfacing between Jack and Bovie from a distance on the course whereas Jack seemed to be indicating to Bovie what the difference was between a hole and Shinola. I'm still confused as to the exact meaning. But nonetheless, it was indeed a fun time (as Kathy said) with laughter overflowing from start to finish. Toni, you and Bruce just cannot miss the next time.
Comments: Bob, I did get the info. Aren't you Jedi Bob? I'm glad Karen and I went to the service. It turned out to be a good one. One guy (Mike Fall, graduated from Sunset in '68) told some funny stories about Eddie and how hard he was on cars and about how many girlfriends he had. The daughter we met was Sandra. She's very pretty and seems very sweet. About 4 or 5 years ago, Eddie began to have strokes, each one worse than the one before. Also he was diabetic and had the failing heart. Eddie gave instructions to be given at his service that to anyone he may have hurt, he was sorry. He'll be missed.
Comments: Well actually BLB - Susan and I were there - we were the only ones from SOC that showed up. Did not realize that he had three daughters and a son. We met one of the daughters - the others are in California.
Comments: Susan, Ronneyand SNL...tried to Email the particulars about Eddie but for some reason, it did not go through to ya'll, I am so sorry! Just not a computer person.I would have liked to have been there for Eddie and Sandra. My heart was there.
Comments: A special thanks to the BMF Project for another outstanding performance in entertaining. A short note; the 67ers are now back in control of bragging rights for the next year boys and girls. As usual Fingers didn't pay up. Fingers my boys will be knocking on your door pardner. |
